Gift for a King

As Christmas approaches many of us are: stressed; out of money; rushed; tired; etc...   It seems that rather than Christmas being a time of joy and peace, it has become a time of stress and expectations.

My favorite Christmas song of all time is "The Little Drummer Boy."

While everyone is bringing their finest gifts to lay before the King.  The little drummer boy admits that he is a poor boy too and that he has no gift to bring.  He honors our Lord by offering to play his drum.  Mary nods and accepts the little drummer boy's gift.  While he has nothing fancy to bring by worldly standards, he plays his best for Jesus. And Jesus smiles at him...

Little Drummer Boy:
Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gifts to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for him, pa rum pum pum pum
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

We need not riches or popularity to impress Him.  He accepts us as we are and loves us in the midst of our broken lives.  Let your life be a drum for our Lord this Christmas.   Play your best for Him. Play songs of love, forgiveness and grace. Receive with open arms the gift of His love and eternal life.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in His shall not perish but have everlasting life.  ~ John 3:16 NKJV

May the Lord bless you always
Merry Christmas ~ Karlee
